FamilySearch MEMORIES-With Go-Arounds for the LIVING

The FamilySearch Tree memories features have great tools for storing, organizing, and sharing our precious memories. Those memories added to the tree are stored in the Granite Mountain Records Vault. Much better than your home, which could be subject to all sorts of disaster, as current events attest.

LIVING people are unique to your account so other people will not see what you have added to them. This creates unique issues. For this reason, several go-arounds for the LIVING are presented.

This is the PowerPoint :  FamilySearch MEMORIES

ALL THE STORIES Web App-Pulls all the story memories from your tree into one place for your perusal.

ANCESTOR CHALLENGE-The new DISCOVERY experience on FamilySearch drawing from the photos added to your ancestors.

LITTLE FAMILY TREE Mobile App-Lots of fun games using your photo memories, Available in your App Store/Play Store.

Prepare your images for uploading by adding good titles and metadata. If the photos are hard-copy then digitize them properly. This is discussed in another blog entry:

Pixel to Portrait-Digitizing and Scanning

HINT: Of course, right now FamilySearch Memories are only truly functional with the deceased but you can still add memories to living people, just other people won't be able to see them. I add key photos and memories to my children and grandchildren's pages. Then when my grandchildren ask to play with my phone I can show them pictures of themselves, then their siblings, and then their parents. Then we move to ancestors and I can tell them stories and start a conversation with them about their heritage. So far, they are quite interested. Part of it is in the delivery so be careful and keep it short!

  1. I was in your class for memories at Gateway. I have thought about what you say about when I die losing memories on familysearch.
Would you provide more information on what is actually lost on familysearch when I did?
    Thank you
